Cookie Policy

Policy on cookies and similar technologies used by the website viadigiovannibattista.com, pursuant to art. 122 of D.Lgs. 196/2003 (Privacy Code) and the ruling of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) of 10 June 2021.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that the websites you visit send to your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) in order to store information that can be read again on subsequent visits. Similar technologies — such as pixels, web beacons and identifiers saved in the browser's local storage or session storage — perform similar functions and are treated as cookies from a regulatory standpoint.

Cookies can be classified by duration (session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed, or persistent cookies, which remain stored for a predefined period) and by source (first-party, set by the website you are visiting, or third-party, set by different domains).

2. Which cookies this website uses

First-party technical cookies

The website does not set any cookies of its own. All the preferences needed for it to function (e.g. the "The Pilgrim's Store" cart) are kept exclusively in memory during the browsing session and are lost when the page is closed. When the Pilgrim Area with persistent login is activated, a session technical cookie will be introduced, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

Third-party technical cookies

Some technical services integrated into the website are provided by third parties and may set their own cookies for strictly technical purposes (loading resources, delivering content via CDN, traffic balancing). Such cookies are not used to profile users.

Profiling and marketing cookies

Not used The website does not use profiling cookies, nor advertising cookies, nor tools for statistical analysis of user behaviour (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.).

Analytics cookies

Not used No analytics cookies, whether first-party or third-party, are used. Should a traffic analysis tool be introduced in the future, the possibility of IP anonymisation and any need for prior consent will be assessed.

3. Legal basis and consent

Technical cookies, whether first-party or third-party, do not require the user's prior consent, as they are necessary for the operation of the requested service (art. 122, paragraph 1, D.Lgs. 196/2003). For these, this policy is sufficient.

Since the website uses neither profiling cookies nor analytics cookies, a banner for collecting consent is not required. This policy remains in place, always accessible from the footer of every page. The situation will be updated if tracking tools requiring consent are introduced in the future.

4. How to manage or disable cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by changing your browser settings. Below are links to the official guides for the most widely used browsers:

Disabling third-party technical cookies may impair the proper functioning of certain sections of the website, in particular the loading of typefaces, icons and the interactive map.

5. Data controller

The data controller is Quelli della Via APS, Via dei Narcisi 160/32, 16148 Genova (GE), CF 95257830109.

For any request concerning the use of cookies and the exercise of the rights provided for under arts. 15–22 GDPR, you may write to the PEC quellidellavia@pec.it or to the ordinary email address privacy@viadigiovannibattista.com.

The complete policy on the processing of personal data is available on the dedicated Privacy page.

6. Changes

This Cookie Policy may be updated at any time to reflect technical changes to the website, the introduction of new services, or regulatory developments. The version in force is always the one published on this page, showing the date of the last update.
